  1. A decathlon is a two-day athletic competition
  2. for men consisting of ten events, these are
  3. the 100 metres, long jump, shot put, high 
  4. jump, 400 metres, 110 meters hurdles, discus,
  5. pole vault, javelin, 1,500 metres. Points are
  6. awarded for performances, and the winner is
  7. the athlete with the greatest aggregate 
  8. score. The decathlon is an Olympic event.
